While Berkeley Township is surrounded by beautiful natural surroundings, such as the Pine Barrens, Barnegat Bay, and the Atlantic Ocean, they are all prone to natural disasters. In an effort to keep the township and its residents in a high state of readiness, the Berkeley Township Office of Emergency Management will post alerts and precautions on this site.

When disaster strikes, the Berkeley Township Office of Emergency Management is the central location for coordinating resources and response operations. Berkeley Township has many dedicated and effective internal assets, such as Berkeley Township School District, Central Regional School District, Department of Public Works, Parks and Recreation, multiple township Fire Companies, Underwater Search and Rescue, Haz-Mat, multiple township First Aid Squads, and Police. Each of these assets performed with dedication and proficiency before, during, and after Superstorm Sandy.

The previously listed assets are all Berkeley Township assets. A key to OEM is cultivating the community and additional resources in the event of major incidents. During Superstorm Sandy, many township residents assisted by donating water, food, and clothing, along with donating their time and energy at the various shelters and donation drop sites. Area businesses assisted greatly with the donation of food, supplies, and equipment. Our thanks go out to all who assisted. Any business or individual who feels they could be of assistance is to contact Berkeley Township OEM at 732-341-1132, ext. 134.
