Detective Bureau

The Detective Bureau is responsible for conducting follow-up investigations of crimes reported throughout Berkeley Township. The assigned Detectives specialize in various fields of investigation to assist them in completing a thorough and efficient follow-up. The detectives receive additional training to keep them up to date with the best practices and procedures for investigating all types of crimes.

The Detective Bureau is also responsible for the management of all property and evidence held by the Berkeley Township Police Department. The bureau further handles the Megan’s Law Registry, the second-hand goods database (Pawn slips), as well as the background investigations. Neighborhood Watch, community education and juvenile matters are also functions handled by the Bureau.

The Detective Bureau wants to remind residents of the importance of community involvement in solving crimes. Without information from the public, many cases would go unsolved. That is why residents are urged to contact the Investigation Bureau with any crime-related information. A tip line is available at 732-341-1132, ext. 611, or concerned citizens can contact them via the Crime Tip Form on this site. Remember, all information is confidential, and you can remain anonymous. Tips can also be emailed to the Tip Line.
