The Berkeley Township Police Department is staffed with a D.A.R.E Officer (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) who is responsible for facilitating and organizing the classroom instruction of the DARE program within the Township’s Elementary Schools. The DARE Officers’ main function and objective is to promote a positive police relationship and build trust between the community, schools and the police department, and to provide children with the information and skills they need to live drug and violence-free lives. Our goal is to teach kids the tools that they will need to avoid negative influences and, instead, make good decisions for themselves.
The Berkeley Township Police Department is staffed with 3 SRO Officers (School Resource Officers). These are specially trained police officers assigned to the Berkeley Township Elementary Schools as well as Central Regional Middle and High School. The SRO’s main function and objectives are to provide security, mentorship, and educational resources to the students of the schools they are assigned. This program promotes a safe learning environment, builds trust between students and law enforcement, and works proactively to prevent crime through engagement and community relationships.
